Formed in 1995, the CCLRC is an independent, non-departmental public body of the Office of Science and Innovation (formally the Office of Science and Technology) which itself is part of the Department of Trade and Industry.
The Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCLRC) works with the other to set future priorities that meet UK science needs. The CCLRC has two distinct arms - the Chief Executive's Office which is responsible for policy, planning and finance, and a range of business units responsible to the CCLRC and other Research Councils for delivering high quality science and facilities for the academic and industrial research communities.
